Ai Weiwei: And the Evolution of Political Art: ...
9,95 € *

To start this off I can’t do better than quote the piece by Ben Luke, resident art critic of the London Evening Standard, that appeared shortly before my time of writing, and a couple of weeks before the relevant exhibition opened at the Royal Academy:“Ai Weiwei”, Luke said, “is probably the most famous artist in the world. He has transcended the world of museums and galleries, and exerts a newsworthiness that no other artist competes with.” This statement, if one bothers to look through the kind of publicity that Ai now attracts - thanks to the digital revolution most of this is easily available with a few clicks on one’s computer - is self-evidently true. Even the very biggest art stars of the past - not Picasso in his dotage, for example, nor Andy Warhol in the 1960s during the epoch of The Factory and the New York nightclub Studio 54, nor even Joseph Beuys, at the time when his 'Organisation for Direct Democracy Through Referendum' formed the central point of reference at the 1972 Documenta 5 in Kassel - enjoyed the same degree of global celebrity. In large part this is due to the operation of the Web itself. Picasso died in 1973, Beuys in 1986, and Warhol in 1987. Though we still speak glibly of the two latter as 'contemporary artists', really they belong to a different world in terms of celebrity and how it is created. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Anthony Howard. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/103177/bk_acx0_103177_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

Monetary and Fiscal Strategies in the World Eco...
95,45 € *
ggf. zzgl. Versand

This book studies the strategic interactions between monetary and fiscal policies in the world economy. The world economy consists of two regions, say Europe and America. The policy makers are the central banks and the governments. The policy targets are low inflation, low unemployment, and low structural deficits. There are demand shocks, supply shocks, and mixed shocks. There are regional shocks and common shocks. This book develops a series of basic, intermediate, and more advanced models. Here the focus is on the Nash equilibrium. The key questions are: Given a shock, can policy interactions reduce the existing loss? And to what extent can they do so? Another topical issue is policy cooperation. To illustrate all of this there are a lot of numerical examples. The present book is part of a larger research project on European Monetary Union, see the references given at the back of the book. Some parts of this project were presented at the World Congress of the International Economic Association, at the International Conference on Macroeconomic Analysis, at the International Institute of Public Finance, and at the International Atlantic Economic Conference. Other parts were presented at the Macro Study Group of the German Economic Association, at the Annual Meeting of the Austrian Economic Association, at the Göttingen Workshop on International Economics, at the Halle Workshop on Monetary Economics, at the Research Seminar on Macroeconomics in Freiburg, at the Research Seminar on Economics in Kassel, and at the Passau Workshop on International Economics.

Ann Massal

Ann Massal's exiting debut monograph is as colorful as it is sinful. A career started in the beauty industry gave Ann Massal the feeling that Plato's take on beauty as truth was long dead. She subsequently decided to study photography to try to express her very own view. With similarities to the crazy world of Alice in Wonderland, Mas- sal's pictures are never expected. Using a vast array of techniques - dripping, bleaching, cutting, rotting - she distorts images to offer us her outlook on beauty: ambiguous, sinful, and always colorful. Massal's work has been exhibited throughout Korea in 2016, nominated in 2017 by JH Engstrom for Photopaper, and was finalist at Helskinki 2018 Photo Festival. The Eye of the Cyclops was shortlisted for the Istanbul 2017 Dummy Award, the Kassel 2018 Dummy Award and is being showcased at various international fairs. It is Ann Massal's first book and, with a little surprise touch by the artist, every single copy will be unique.
